SA LIMBORA
History:The Slovak Association Limbora, whose name means a special kind of coniferous tree found in Slovakia, is a voluntary association with the aim to preserve and promote different kinds of traditional Slovak art at home and abroad. | | Limbora on Folklore Festival in Kalabria (IT) |
The ensemble was established almost fifty years ago in Prague. In the year 1951 a Slovak folklore group was founded by the students of the Economics University in Prague, which went in for Slovak dances and songs. Activity of this group went on until 1986, when enthusiasts from this group spoke to a wider sphere of young people in Prague and not only the students. An ensemble called Limbora was established.
In the year 2001 Limbora celebrated its 15th anniversary and 50th anniversary of Slovak folklore in Prague. Children's group Limborka celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2002. | | Christmas program with Limbora |
